This Shit Is Bananas: Travis The Chimp Attacks A Woman In Connecticut
17 February 2009, 10:21 AM. By Alex Alvarez
Charla Nash, 55, has been hospitalized after being attacked by a friend’s pet chimp, Travis, in Connecticut. Travis jumped on Charla and began mauling her face, neck and hands before running off. She’s probably totally rethinking that banana-coconut body wash.
Charla was initially called to her friend’s house to capture Travis, who had escaped from the home using a key. This is perhaps an excellent indication of why people should not have pets with opposable thumbs and large teeth. The chimp-owning friend in question, Sandra Harold, tried to pry Travis off of Charla before stabbing him with a kitchen knife and hitting him with a shovel.
Travis, who weighed close to 200 pounds and was apparently a bionic robo-chimp with a taste for human flesh, was still going at it when police arrived. Authorities had to shoot the chimp several times after he attacked an officer, ripped off a police cruiser’s side mirror and attempted to enter the vehicle. So, a chimp had to die because a human was short-sighted enough to attempt to raise a giant, strong, wild animal in her home.
Can you imagine having this family as neighbors?

uy…scary stuff ive always disliked monkeys/primates etc…and i blame it all on one little film called shakma….
Alex, you’re totally right — primates should not be kept as pets. Wayne Pacelle, who’s head of The Humane Society of the United States, just posted five lessons learned from this on his blog:

The end is near.
