Will Smith and his wife, Jada, attended the NAACP Image Awards last night and took the opportunity to talk about such empowering issues as the Chris Brown and Rihanna alleged assault saga. Will Smith would like the public to back off of the young couple while still being completely aware that Will Smith has offered them help.
Said Will, probably while Jada was awkwardly elbowing him because she seems like she has some sense (she's a singer in a heavy metal band, so we're going to go ahead and root for her):

Will Smith and his wife, Jada, attended the NAACP Image Awards last night and took the opportunity to talk about such empowering issues as the Chris Brown and Rihanna alleged assault saga. Will Smith would like the public to back off of the young couple while still being completely aware that Will Smith has offered them help.

Jada and I reached out to both of them. If it's help they need, then let's get it right. This is a time where they need to be left alone and if they have things they need to work out, work it out. People should take a minute before they jump on it and judge. We don't know nothing. If there are mistakes people make, then they should be willing to live up to the mistakes and do whatever penance they need to do. I don't think it's up to us, specifically the media, with such a fast hand to try to chop someone's head off.If they need to be left alone, why, pray tell, are you putting your name in the paper and on blogs by piggybacking onto their story? You don't think their legal team, staff, friends, family, doctors and police are able to get them help? Ay, Will. Well, we guess it's heart's in the right place. The LA Times' readers, however, have written in to the paper and blog to express their overwhelming support of Chris Brown. The LA Times asks whether "good looks and celebrity status" are enough to get out of an alleged domestic violence charge after posting the following comments:
WHITNEY wrote: I'M STILL GOING TO SUPPORT CHRIS BROWN UNTIL THE END. I DONT CARE IF HE DID IT OR NOT. OBVIOUSLY SHE PROVOKED HIM AND EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES SO, IM NOT GOING TO DOWN TALK HIM NOR TRY TO BRING HIM DOWN LIKE THE WHITE MEDIA IS GOING TO. HE'S STILL A KID. KIDS MAKE DUMB CHOICES EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. GIVE THE KID A BREAK IT'S HIS FIRST TIME IN HIS 4 YEAR CAREER. Damn shame wrote: This man is facing allegations, yet we don't know all the facts and some have already tried and convicted him. This is why I hate the feminazi movement. Don't get that confused with women't rights either. And yes, I am a woman. Lindsey wrote: I really hope sometimg about this isn't true I've been crying about this all day and would like to know the whole story. Chris is a good guy that I would never think would do this. Bentiz Lapor wrote: Poor Chris. His life wasn't easy and I understand his step dad beat his Mom which he hated. Clearly, Chris has some very deep scars that he thought he had a handle on, but doesn't. He will need to get help so he will learn how to control his temper (if he did hit her). I'll bet Rhianna was the one who hit him first and then he flashes back to childhood, and before you know it Rhianna has a black eye and a scratch on her face. I blame both parties for letting an argument escalate to that point. Sometime it's best to just close your mouth(Rhianna). Takes two to argue. Plus, if you can't get along then you shouldn't be together in the first place. Not even going to touch those. Guanabee has gotten its own share of commenters voicing their support for Chris and their view that Rihanna's actions are to blame:
Guest wrote: Okk Butt if this aint truee or shitt why people spreading stuff bout some celebs they dont even know . rather pathetic cause no one actually knows what happened . so untill chris brown tells his side of the story people should stop posting a load of shxt on the net . Its a waste of time and seems you have no life . I took the time to actually read this crap ! and ive heard all different stories . No matter who people think chris brown is . Im with him till the end even if he did beat her . He does good music and i like itt wheres with rihanna im not much of a fan . So untll chris brown proven guilty you should ALL STOP ! spreading shxt . Much loveIt does seem that we have no life sometimes, no? Maybe we should spend our time more constructively, like by posting comments defending acts of domestic violence anonymously on various blogs.

Is the "WHITE MEDIA" the same as the liberal media? The last couple of comments were so so out there that I couldn't even stomach them. Rationalizing domestic abuse. I blame this on MTV and MTV2. Happy hour is just an hour away.
ReplyBoo to the patriarchy.
ReplyI'm not so sure about the "overwhelming" support Chris Brown has online. Remember, if we went by online traffic, Ron Paul would have been a serious contender rather than some sad sideshow.
ReplyChris Brown i dont think would ever do anything like this, but since it has already happened there is nothing you can really do about it. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Thats just something called LIFE! ") So everyone stop hating on Rihanna and Chris. KAY?
