Cancun Beckons You With New “Ignore The Drug War” Video

Ya gotta love the marketing geniuses behind this new “What Drug War?” tourism video for Cancun. It features many sunburned, white Americans assuring you that there’s no danger in Cancun. As long as you stay in the all-inclusive resorts and ignore the newspaper, you’re sure to leave all your troubles behind.
Especially reassuring is U.S. Consul Karen Martin’s litigious pitches like, “Certainly many Americans come to Cancun and enjoy the beautiful beaches and wonderful hotels that are there.” It’s both non-committal and selly. Karen confirms lots of Americans are retiring in Mexico. (You can get cilantro for 20¢!) “That’s certainly what we hear,” says Karen. We hear her voice tremble at 1:28. And then we imagine a shadowy G-man figure pointing a gun at her from behind the camera. JUST KIDDING! (A little.)

ugh! dont get me started!! you know how many bookings i’ve had to cancel because dumbass people think they will be the danger zone.
Yeah it sounds like bs but yes stay in the tourist areas and you’ll be fine.. common sense people. Even if all this shit wasn’t happening you’d still use those same precautions.
Hotel reps say they resort areas haven’t been affected. We’ve been sending people to Cancun on the daily and we haven’t heard of one incident yet
