DWI Warrant Issued For Emilio Navairo
6 March 2009, 7:24 PM. By Cindy Casares
Emilio Navairo is finally being charged for driving while intoxicated after almost a year since his Easter 2008 drunk driving accident in Houston. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement informing the press that a warrant was filed in Houston today for the misdemeanor charge.
As you might recall, the Grammy winning Tejano star and repeat drunk driving offender almost killed himself and his bandmates when he drove their tour bus into a guardrail outside of Houston last March. Navairo was without a driver’s license at the time of the accident due to two previous drunk driving arrests. He also had a blood alcohol level of 1.9–more than twice the legal limit in Texas.
Two of his bandmates, Eddie Perez and Daniel Sandoval, along with Perez’s grandfather Pedro, filed a lawsuit against Navaira’s company, Emilio, Inc., three months later because of injuries they suffered during the accident, not to mention loss of income due to the fact that their lead singer was in the hospital with brain injuries.
