Friends and Family Gather For Natasha Richardson’s Funeral In New York City

Friends and family of Natasha Richardson gathered this afternoon to say farewell to the actress at a private wake at the American Irish Historical Society in New York City. As reported last Wednesday, the 45 year-old actress died on Wednesday following a ski accident in Toronto Quebec, Canada two days earlier. Her husband actor Liam Neeson, her two sons, Michael, 13 and Daniel, 12 and her mother, the British actress Vanessa Redgrave received Natasha’s closes friends who arrived to pay their respects.
Richardson’s husband, 56-year old actor Liam Neeson looked distraught as he received her late wife’s closest friends for the wake and viewing. Neeson who was filming Atom Egoyan’s Chloe in Toronto when the tragedy happened has put his career on hold.
Celebrity friends who arrived to the funeral included Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Uma Thurman, Rupert Everett, Ethan Hawke, Lauren Bacall, Ralph Fiennes and TV host Diane Sawyer among others.
“Natasha was a very close friend of our family, so it’s been a very, very sad few days and I think it will stay that way for a good while,” said actor Matthew Broderick.
An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was internal bleeding in her skull caused by the fall on a beginner ski slope in Mont Tremblant. An emergency helicopter unit was not available and it took 4 hours from the time the accident happened to take the actress to a hospital, which had the appropriate care facilities to treat her. The first paramedics who arrived at the scene were turned away after she declined treatment. It has also emerged that the actress turned down a ski helmet which could have saved her life.
It was on Broadway that Liam Neeson first met his Natasha Richardson. The two had been married for 15 years. Natasha appared in more than 30 films but was mostly known for her work on stage.

OK, I’m fed up to hear she died in Toronto or Montreal, I know most of you don’t know where the hell is Canada, even less what city, but she had an accident in Mont-Tremblant, province of Quebec, about 2 hours from Montreal.

Agreed, I mean, it’s understandable if you think she died in Montreal, because that’s at least in the same province, but TORONTO, people?! Jeez where’s our accuracy in reporting? ;-)
I think you two assholes should be respectful of the family in this terrible time. If u do not wish to hear or see any more details of Ms. Richardson and or her family then tune out. Do not make stupid comments, just shows ur ignorance…..
