Girl In A Coma Jailed After Brawl With Houston Police

Guanabee favorites Nina Diaz and Jennifer Alva from Girl In A Coma got into a fight with two off-duty Houston cops last weekend, after Nina apparently slapped her boyfriend and then fought off a cop who tried to interfere. Some witnesses are saying the police officer beat Jennifer in the head with his nightstick?!

Nina and Jennifer were arrested at the Houston bar Chances last Saturday on charges of assaulting a public servant, and only just released last Tuesday. Reports are varying, but a friend of the bands’ who was also at the bar that night, Abrahán Garza, says he saw the whole thing go down. According to him, Nina was just “playing around” and pushed her boyfriends face with a finger when the cop decided he needed to break it up. Then maybe someone threw a beer bottle (ed. note: Cindy?!) and things got a bit crazy, as Garza says that Jennifer stepped in and ended up getting beaten by the police officer. Garza reports that the cop hit Jennifer repeatedly in the head with his nightstick and one commenter on the news article who claims to be an eyewitness says the officer threw her against the wall, cracking the window with her head. Garza says that when the cop came outside he told the crowd “I hit her, but I didn’t give her a full-on man-punch,” which suggests he knew he’d been out of line. Also, thanks for distinguishing between a “full-on man-punch” and the gentler, kinder, lady-punching variety.

Again according to Garza, Jennifer was seriously bruised and was going to visit a hospital before leaving Houston. So was this a case of police brutality or drunk rocker drama? Maybe both?
