Jennifer Lopez Reveals Her Latest Incarnation In Japan
30 March 2009, 3:00 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Jennifer Lopez has always been something of a style chameleon, but her latest incarnation - apparently that of a Japanese teen - has inspired snickers from critics. Jennifer debuted her new look at a Samantha Thavasa store in Tokyo.
Jennifer, you see, is but the latest in a string of annoying celebrities (Paris and Nicki Hilton, Beyonce and Solange Knowles, and others) to endorse the Samantha Thavasa’s line of bags.
To commemorate the fact, Jennifer created a look ostensibly based on those of Japanese pre-teens found in any given issue of FRUiTS. The “singer” and “actress” wore an over-sized black and white top over a pair of black legging and white stripper shoes that were sliiiightly too big and sliiiightly too Candie’s circa 1997. She also showed off a new, youthful hairstyle - light brown hair with long bangs.
The Daily Mail, long touted to be something of a fashion Bible (gag), thinks Jen’s look is a little too juvenile for her, but we think she looks young enough to pull it off, besides, who’s to say what constitutes as age appropriate? It’s all in how you wear it and embracing your age, not being ashamed of it. If anything, the only quibble we have about Jen’s look is that its altogether too trendy and that, while probably extremely expensive, it gives the appearance of something easily found at Claire’s.
What do you think of Jennifer’s look? Is it a nice departure from her usual designer gowns and strained cara de mierda, or is she “too old” for baggy tops and leggings?

hey it’s JLO she can wear what ever she wants… but it does remind me of the teens you see hanging out all the mall. except they’d be wearing chucks not stripper shoes.
Chonga, maybe. Japanese, no.
The weirdest thing about these pictures is that Jennifer does not seem to be shouting “ow! ow! ow!” Those shoes look like torture.
