Politics
At the tender age of 24, Maria Sergeyeva is on the track to becoming a Russian minister. She's already Vladimir Putin's leading propagandist, getting the word out for him and his United Russia party by blogging on LiveJournal, demonstrating and posing, drunk, wrapped in a Cuban flag.
A fellow party member explains Sergeyeva's appeal: "Maria is a potent combination. She can sway crowds with her passion, her looks and her punchy style, but she also reaches out via her blogs and webcasts to places that normal politics fails to go."
Sergeyeva, who has been referred to as "Putin's Pin-Up" and "The Russian Sarah Palin," is probably more similar to another well-known, outspoken leggy blonde - Ann Coulter. Sergeyeva's articles and blog posts are characterized by being blunt and incendiary in their anti-immigrant, anti-West views.
In a recent post about immigration, for example, Sergeyeva wrote: "Immigrants should work in places where Russians don't want to, or they should go back home." True! Goodness knows how many lazy people move to Russia for its famed mild climate, plethora of business opportunities and delectable cuisine.
And, like other talking heads on our side of sphere (cough Laura Ingraham versus Meghan McCain, cough cough), Sergeyeva's is not above veering off-topic when it comes to female rivals. Of Yulia Latynina, a radio host who is openly against Putin, Sergeyeva has said: "I'm not saying that Yulia Latynina is ugly. I'm saying that if a person experiences a lot of negative emotions, that negativity is reflected in her face."
Sergeyeva has also been open about her distaste of the West, and her preference for eschewing big-name designer for locally-made clothing, like pink bikinis.
Interestingly, Sergeyeva was formerly known as an outspoken Putin opponent, attending rallies and demonstrations against the leader and his party. This has caused some to speculate that Putin's people saw potential in the attractive, loud young woman and her recruited her to their side for pay - an allegation Sergeyeva denies.
And, now, a video from Maria:
