agyness_melissa_3.20.09Melissa, the Brazilian brand famous for its plastic footwear, is creating Plastic Dreams a fashion magazine that aims to prove life in plastic is, indeed, fantastic. If maybe a little sweaty.

The magazine, while will be available in certain shops that carry Melissa - including the brand’s flagship store in São Paulo - feature model Agyness Deyn on the cover. Wearing some hot shoes. Literally.

Earlier this month, the brand also launched a series of film collaborations:

The “Plasticdreams” concept sums up Melissa’s timeless personality – a brand that works as a platform for the diffusion of fashion, design and culture information, having plastic as it curator. Being the base of the brand’s communication strategy abroad, the Plasticdreams campaign will start running also in Brazil, with inserts of the short films available at www.melissaplasticdreams.com in the programs of some cable TV channels.

The films, which illustrate the creative concepts behind products such as Melissa Campana (“Sustainable Dreams”), Melissa Zaha Hadid (“Zaha Hadid’s Dreams”) and Melissa Lady Dragon (“Vivienne Westwood’s Dreams”), will be shown from the 15th of March until the 15th of April during commercial breaks of fashion, design and culture focused shows. They are: “GNT Fashion”, “Superbonita”, “Saia Justa” and “Fashion Television”, on GNT, “Project Runway”, “Descabelados” and “Os fashionistas”, on People&Arts, “E! Fashion Weeks”, on E! Entertainment Television, “Gossip Girl”, on Warner, and “House”, on Universal Channel. Stay tuned!

We must admit, they’re trying out fairly innovative ways of promoting their brand and creating an image of their shoes as artful, sustainable and fashion forward. Their website is also extremely well-designed and great looking. It almost makes us reminisce for the days when we wore bright yellow jelly sandals with a matching jelly belt. With snap bracelets.
