Tijuana Seeks To Outlaw Narcocorridos And Santa Muerte
5 March 2009, 3:24 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Loyal Guanababies are no strangers to narcocorridos and Santa Muerte - the skinny minx said to protect drug drealers. It is currently illegal to play narcocorridos - songs that describe the actions and impact of drug smugglers - on Mexican radio, but the city of Tijuana is proposing new laws that would also make it illegal to play, sing or write such songs, as well as to display images of the Santa Muerte.
Watch, in awe, as a dorky journalist braves the dusty streets of Tijuana to get the scoop on the new laws being proposed:
While we’re sure that narcocorridos and the veneration of the Santa Muerte don’t do much to quell the violence caused by narco traffickers, we have to wonder whether outlawing these cultural touch points is akin to putting a bandaid on a severed arm. Which, like: OMG, ew.

“ando buscando un cabron para partile su madre”
Really, who can argue that narco corridos are not poetry…
