Rachael Ray On FHM 2003 Photo Shoot: “I Thought It Was ‘Food And Home.’”
2 March 2009, 6:15 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Culinary media mogul Rachael Ray was asked by Nightline about the FHM cover she landed back in 2003. “Bring it!” she yelped, like a basset hound caught beneath the wheel of a car, before admitting she wasn’t actually clear on what FHM was all about. “I thought it was ‘Food and Home.’ I didn’t even know what FHM was.”
Rachael says she agreed to do the shoot as a way to represent the “everywoman.” Which seems noble, but a little… off given the extent to which she’s altered almost beyond recognition in the resulting photospread. Plus, we’re pretty sure most women don’t lean close to blazing hot ovens while wearing denim miniskirts and heels. We do, yes. But not most women. (Haha, as if we ever use an oven!) But we’re glad that Rachael thinks the women in FHM are lovely and that she’s really excited about her shoot and has no regrets - despite her mom having hated the idea.
Check out Rachael’s Nightline interview and try to maintain some composure. No imagining her dripping with EVOO, ok?:
