Designer Raquel Allegra Brings Her Distressed, Jailbird T-Shirts To LA Fashion Week
13 March 2009, 4:51 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Designer Raquel Allegra’s comfy t-shirts and dresses are being featured in LA Fashion Week. Raquel’s clothes are unique not only because they seem really, really wearable, they’re also green. Her distressed, ruched and slashed tops are made from recycled LA County prison t-shirts. Nice!
Check out some of her designs. They remind us of our pajama t-shirts only, like. These won’t have people shaking their heads sadly when we wear one to the movies:
We love how she wants each of her pieces to have a show, but at $490 for a distressed tunic, we’d practically have to sell our own souls to get one. Next DIY project, maybe?

Hells yeah DIY.. just wait outside of your closest jail/prison and wait for a released inmate, or escapee… ask them for their t-shirt.
not only will you have an awesome t-shirt but you’ll have an awesome story to go along with it… YAY!
punks did it better!
