SXSW 2009: Mexico’s Zoé To Conquer America In Spanish
23 March 2009, 5:30 PM. By Cindy Casares
We caught up with Mexican supergroup Zoé at their Austin hotel this past weekend, a few hours before their SXSW showcase. The guys were excited, (okay, actually, they were kind of sleepy, we think. They had just flown in from Guadalajara.), to talk about their new album Reptilectric which drops in the States next month.
While they’re not too well known here, they’re kind of the shit down south and have been since the late 90’s. They just played Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes with Babasonicos and Ximena Sariñana earlier this month where the audience looked like this:

Their manager told me they could never sit outside a hotel like they did in this video if they were in Latin America. And while they write and sing in English sometimes, they’re not planning on using any of that to conquer the U.S. If you’re a fan or if you’ve never heard of them before, click below to meet the Zoé.
One thing we really like about them is their very trippy videos. The one for the first single off the new album, also called “Reptilectric,” is no exception.
The guys told us they’ll be touring the States in April and again in the fall, so check out their website for dates.
