fried_rice_911_4_9_09This 911 audio of a Texas woman asking the cops to come to a restaurant because they didn’t give her extra shrimp is a sign of the times. Add it to the 911 Chicken McNuggets call and the 911 Burger King call and it’s not doubt people are freaking out about the value of their meal. But how long until one of these crazies really freaks out and hurts someone?

The fried rice call occurred in the Fort Worth suburb of Haltom City. Here’s the audio. A transcript is below for you to read along.

Operator: Halton City 911
Woman: Yes, I’d like to get a police officer at 4005 East Belknap Street.
Operator: 4005 East Belknap?
Woman: Yes
Operator: Okay, A&D Buffalo’s?
Woman: [Unintelligible arguing]
Operator: Hello? Okay, are you at A&D Buffalo’s?
Woman: Yes ma’am.
Operator: Okay, what’s going on?
Woman: I had purchased some shrimp fried rice up here. I always get the shrimp fried rice but i said i’m going to get extra meat this time, but he didn’t even put extra shrimp in there and I asked him, “Can you give me extra shrimp, or can you give my money back?” And he started hollering, so I just said, “I’m going to call the police.”
Operator: Okay well I’ll get somebody out there.
Woman: In how long, cuz..?
Operator: I don’t know how long. As soon as I can.
Woman: Ok, well it’s going to be…[Unintelligible]
Operator: I’m sorry? I can’t hear you, do what?
Woman: I’m just saying, to get a police officer up here, what has to happen?
Operator: I’m gonna send an officer, I just don’t know how long it’s going to take.
Woman: Okay, thank you.

The police did show up later, but the caller was gone. The restaurant’s employees said she was denied a refund because she had left with the order and then returned to complain that she didn’t get her $1.62  worth of extra shrimp. The cook, June Lee, said there was nothing wrong with the order, “some customers are happy, some are not.”

On February 28 of this year, Latreasa Goodman, 27, also called 911 over a Chicken McNuggets refund dispute. The store was out of nuggets (how?!) and they were trying to force her to buy something else.

And in 2007, this woman in California called 911 over a messed up cheeseburger order at Burger King.

We’re just saying, crazy people + fast food addiction + shitty economy. The potential is there for a disaster.
