allen_andrade_4_22_09 The defense for Allen Ray Andrade in the historic, Angie Zapata transgender murder trial just rested by saying the prosecution has failed to prove that Andrade’s murder of Angie Zapata was motivated by “an intent to intimidate or harass Justin Zapata”, (insisting on referring to Angie as male), “because of his actual or perceived orientation, knowingly caused bodily injury to Justin Zapata.” Uh, he called her, “it” to the police when they picked him up. The defense lawyer, who has sold her soul to the devil, says Andrade was merely reacting to the lie that Angie Zapata told, not her transgender status. Oh lawyers! How doth thou sleep at night?

Meanwhile, the prosecution rests with this interesting piece of evidence: A DILDO WAS RECOVERED FROM THE SCENE THAT ONLY HAD ANDRADE’S DNA ON IT. Still sure he didn’t know Angie was a guy? This sounds more like a case of a closeted, hyper macho Latino dude flipping out after he did the deed with a chick with a dick. (Not to speak graphically of the deceased.)

    inneresting, very inneresting.

  2. They just found her murder guilty on all counts. This is the first time a trans person’s murder was treated as a hate crime.

    It’s still sad.

Oh, but that’s what you just did, because trans peoples’ bodies are fair game for anyone to comment on. Good job being sensitive. Wait.

Defense lawyers do serve a check on the system. While most narrow minded people just see someone advocating for a horrendous defendant, which I do concede this defendant is, I see a lawyer who is protecting future innocent suspect from prosecutorial misconduct by failing to prove every element of the crime beyond a reasonable doubt. I sleep quite well at night.
