Can Sofia Vergara Sing In Her Role As “Mama Morton?” You Be The Judge.

Sofia Vergara will star as “Mama Morton” in a production of Chicago. She was able to snag the role, famously played by Queen Latifah in the movie version of the popular musical, without ever having sung live. 

Luckily, (or not, we guess, depending on how you rate Sofi’s singing) you can listen to a little snippet of Sofia’s performance and see her chit chat backstage about how often people have told her that she has a great voice:

Not too shabby, no? Although we suppose we though the role of Mama Morton would be played by a bigger star. Literally. We’d love to see someone who comes across as more aggressive in this role. Here are some suggestions:

Sara Ramirez

This woman looks like she doesn’t take bullshit from anyone, and she was the only remotely interesting character on Gray’s Anatomy until the show decided full-figured lesbians aren’t good for ratings or something.

America Ferrera

We just want to see America in a role that’s less “sweet” than her usual fare. We think laying a sassy prison warden might do the trick, no?

Michelle Rodriguez

Ok, you might have to put her in a hefty suit of some kind, but wouldn’t Michelle be awesome in this role? She looks like she would literally punch Roxie Hart in the throat if she tried anything in prison.
