Carlos Santana Gets High And Mighty; Tells Obama To Legalize Pot

Musician Carlos Santana recently took a break from hypnotizing us with his shaman-gypsy guitar playing to tell the world he thinks Obama needs to legalize pot. Obama laughed off that same question during his online town hall in March where he declined to seriously respond to the question and instead, teased his audience for even asking. Now if Santana were president, here’s what he’d do:

“Legalize marijuana and take all that money and invest it in teachers and in education. You will see a transformation in America.” He also bashed California’s governor, Schwarzenegger, saying:

“I really believe that as soon as we legalize and decriminalize marijuana we can actually afford a really good governor who won’t keep taking money away from education and from teachers and send him back to Hollywood where he can do ‘D’ movies and we can get an ‘A’ governor.”

Ha! Good one Carlos.

Most people think Santana still smokes the reef’, even though he says that after his 1991 arrest for possession he gave it up. Of course famous statements like his pre-Supernatural claim that, “I want to reconnect the molecules with the light, man, you know?” aren’t helping his credibility.

Well really, we’re with Santana on this one. Pot just seems too harmless to merit all the time and resources we spend on trying to suppress it. And Santana may be an annoying mustached hippy who made 1999 a living hell with the song Smooth, but we’d take a stoned giggling Santana any day over a drunk, mean Lohan.
