chavez_obama_4_19_09Venezuelan dictator president Hugo Chavez gave president Obama a history book on Latin America and a lesson on Latin American politics on the second day of the Summit of the Americas. Chavez, who is known for pulling publicity stunts, handed the American president the book Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent by Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano while Obama was addressing 33 leaders of that continent.

While in the past Chavez has said that relations with Venezuela and the United States will improve, this time, with the world as his stage, he took the opportunity to symbolically, and publicly, humiliate Obama and the United States.

Now, many argue that Chavez’s sarcastic and aggressive gesture was out of line, however, the sentiment that the United Stastes constantly antagonizes and takes advantage of the its neighbors below is not a foreign one on that continent.

Lady Bananajuana1. You are 10,000 thousand years behind the development of relations between human being. Your behavior is a typical of belligerent people who prefer to sow intrigue and hatred than friendship, respect and love between human beings. President Barack Obama, is an enlightened man, charismatic, thinker, fair and kind, only those who are on his level can see and understand their humanitarian actions. Mr. Pres. Obama is and will be the man for the American and wideworld people forever.

Congratulations to CNN TV for its impartiality, reporting important facts that can change the course of the history of relations between nations, arousing the curiosity of mankind those which have interest to know the truth about the pillage, past and present in the Latin America.

  3. The Obama administration can probably get away with being quite tough on Chavez (just a Nixon could get away with the “opening to China”). Whether they do or not might depend on whether they chose to construe Chavez actions as deliberately insulting or as incredibly clumsy. They do seem capable of holding a grudge though.
