The Dallas Morning News - your source for news, in Dallas, in the morning - made something of a journalistic faux pas (a pas about which we know a lot) when it printed an opinion column in the form of a rebuttal to another editorial on Latino immigration and assimilation.
The two editorials appeared side by side, with each writer expressing an opposing view. One, by Linda Chavez, concluded that the "survey defies illegal immigrant stereotypes" and that many undocumented immigrants in the U.S. have two-parent households with American-born children and bathe on a regular basis. The other, by local conservative radio host Lynn Woolley, declared that too many "illegals" were "not interested in assimilating" and that they tend to eat small pets and newborns.
The problem is not that Woolley fails to use statistical date or examples beyond the existence of Spanish-language Wal-Marts in her rebuttal... it's the fact that her column is a rebuttal, referring directly to Linda Chavez's column:

If, as Linda Chavez seems to think, the intent of those who come to America illegally is simply to raise a family, send the kids to college and assimilate into American society, then where's the problem? The problem is – that's just simply not the case. This doesn't create a conversation or dialogue about the topic, nor does it seem fair that the Dallas Morning News' editors chose which columnist would have the privilege of getting the "last word." So was the purpose of running both articles to present opposing views on the lives of illegal immigrants... or simply to refute Linda Chavez's points?

The Dallas Morning News sucks, especially when it comes to reporting on race/POC issues. Their coverage on the condom ban being lifted was gross. Categorizing Black people as being an irresponsible community. Their coverage of immigrants, is even worse. That's just how Dallas is, racist.
Replymaybe so but Chavez not only works for conservative rag-dripping-in-dreck Townhall magazine and plays to the most LOWEST of stereotypes and hatreds of black people. She is as racist as racist can get but like the typical 'I'm only your ally when it suits me' non-white person when it comes to HER race it's 'racist propoganda' gee Linda hypocrite much?!!
