keith_hernandez_4_17_09Legendary Mets first basemen Keith Hernandez is in New York magazine this week telling his favorite story about living in the Big Apple and, as usual, it has to do with a compelling bromance that treads the murky waters of manlove.

It seems when Keith first moved to New York City, (from San Francisco-ahem), his gay decorators piled all his luggage and clothes in the middle of the living room and called it art. Obviously they were trying to bamboozle Keith, but one of his male friends came to his rescue.

Ed Lynch, a starting pitcher, was crashing with me while his condo was being finihsed. I went out one day, and when I came back he had unpacked all my stuff. I got his dinners for a month after that.

Kind of reminds us of a certain classic Seinfeld episode in which Keith guest-starred. Did the shows writers know something we didn’t?

Some people just can’t function without a man in their life.
