Officer Robert Powell Resigns, Ryan Moats Does Victory Dance
1 April 2009, 3:42 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Officer Robert Powell, the cop who pulled a gun on NFL player Ryan Moats during a traffic stop as his mother-in-law died in a nearby hospital, has resigned. Powell, you may recall, also went on a power trip while stopping Maritza Thomas, the Latina wife of linebacker Zach Thomas.
Powell had been placed on paid leave as his actions were being investigated. In a statement issues through his attorneys, Powell seeks forgiveness:
I made this decision in the hope that my resignation will allow the Dallas Police Department, my fellow officers and the citizens of Dallas to better reflect on this experience, learn from the mistakes made, and move forward.
I still hope to speak with the Moats family to personally express my deep regret, sympathy, and to apologize for my poor judgment and unprofessional conduct.
Right.

Thank God that SOB got fired!! He is only one out of the majority of police that abuse their authority. Why be a policeman?: So one can boss people around! So one can ride his sportbike and never get a ticket. So one can kill their past wives like Policeman Drew Peterson did. These SOBs need to be held accountable. What goes around, sometimes comes around. I hope this guy Powell suffers, I hope his family suffers, for letting him be the PR_ _ _ he is!!
