jihad-unspun-beverly-4.6.09Soon after September 11, 2001, Canadian journalist Beverly Giesebrecht converted to Islam, changed her name to Khadija Abdul Qahaar and created a pro-Jihadi website. Now, years later, she is appearing in videos allegedly filmed by Pakistani extremists, begging for her life. So, what happened?

Qahaar created the site “Jihad Unspun” because, she says, she wanted to express that the war on “terrorism” was actually a war on Muslims. Plus, she thought Osama bin Laden looked like a cuitepie:

I became obsessed with finding out what was really going on. In the early days of my research, I remember sitting at five in the morning, exhausted, after going from link to link to link to link, staring at the face of Osama bin Laden. This man does not have the face of a cold-blooded killer. This is not a Charles Manson. There has to be something more.

I made the decision to launch a Web site with the hope of informing the public about some of the things I had come to know and to give voice to the other side of war on ‘terrorism.’

There was no question in my mind, from the first days of my research, that the so-called war on ‘terrorism’ was a sham. This is not a war on ‘terrorism’ — this is a war against Muslims and our resources.

It is my hope that this will inspire others to Islam and to take a stand against this shameful war on ‘terrorism.’

Nonetheless, in November of last year, Qahaar was kidnapped by a Pakistani extremist group while she was working on a story in that country. The group released videos showing a distressed Qahaar begging for $375,000 in ransom money by the end of March. She says, shaken, that if the money is not paid, she will be beheaded. Experts are not sure how true her claims that she is held by “the Taliban” happen to be, since there are a number of gangs in the area who refer themselves as Taliban members.

Qahaar’s friends and colleagues admit they are stumped as to why the Taliban, if these are in fact her captors, decided to kidnap one of their supporters and express certainty that the videos are not a hoax aimed at extorting money.

Pakistani and Canadian officials are currently in talks in an attempt to negiotiate Qahaar’s safe release.

One of the released videos is below:

Sad, sad but what’s with the floating knife? I didn’t know the Taliban had such high tech special effects.

When you sleep with dogs you wake up with fleas. She woke up with more than flees I’d say! When one goes in a dark alley in a big city, what are the chances of getting mugged? Same goes for hanging out in the ‘far west’ of Pakistan, especially as a white woman. Now she wants help? Hmmm, don’t think so.

Well, it’s April 7th. In a way I hope she died a painful death. Beheading is a tad clean for a wretch like her, a car fire death may be more appropriate. But then again, am I better than her for wishes like that?

Please Can Gov, leave her there, it is where she belongs.
