Illegal Gun Trafficking: Rick Sanchez Blames Mexico

If you’ve ever wandered why the hell the situation in Mexico can never get any better, here it is in a microcosm courtesy of a clip from Rick Sanchez’s hour on CNN today. 

Mexico has screamed until it’s blue in the face that the United States needs to re-instate federal laws against automatic assault weapons that make up 90% of arms used to defend drug cartels. But this country has routinely batted that request back with its usual comeback, “Well why don’t you do something about your own problems like illegal immigration?” Does one have anything to do with the other? Do two wrongs make a right? We don’t care!

In this clip Foreign Policy in Focus Contributor Manuel Perez Rocha restates Mexico’s position on U.S. gun control to Rick who comes back with, “yeah, but you guys keep sending illegal aliens.” Really, Rick? Are you going to bring up the fact that his wife’s a bitch, too? Rick successfully veers Perez so far off topic, that Rick just loses interest altogether and starts having a conversation with his producer offline. Kind of reminds us of Congress.
