Missing GirlMelissa Huckaby, a Sunday school teacher has been arrested in connection with the Sandra Cantu murder. Sandra Cantu’s body was found Monday, stuffed into a suitcase in an irrigation pond a few miles from the Orchard Estes Mobile Home Park, 10 days after Cantu was reported missing by her family. Police in Tracy, California arrested Huckaby, 28, a neighbor of Sandra Cantu and whose 5 year-old daughter was a friend of the little girl.

In a published interview, Huckaby said that little Sandra Cantu visited her home the day she vanished. According to police, the suitcase in which the body of Sandra Cantu was found belongs to Huckaby, who claims that it was stolen from her after she left it in her driveway. Not to jump the gun here but what kind of bullshit is that? The police did not believe her story.

Tracy Police Chief Janet Thiessen said, “Ms. Huckaby has been arrested and will be booked at the San Joaquin County Jail for kidnapping and murder.” The creepy looking Sunday school teacher “revealed enough information that we had probable cause to arrest her for both kidnapping and murder,” Tracy Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said.

Melissa Huckaby is a Sunday school teacher and the granddaughter of a local pastor in Tracy, a northern California town of about 78,000 people about 60 miles east of San Francisco.

The missing child case got national attention and led to a massive search by local police.  The last known image of the child was a surveillance video showing her skipping happily down the street.

Our prayers go to the Cantu family.
