Carrie Prejean’s Mom Had A Lesbian Relationship. Someone’s Got Issuuueees.

Miss California Carrie Prejean told Perez Hilton’s giant head, and the rest of the world, that “in my country… in my family” marriage is between a man and a woman, a term most commonly referred to as “opposite marriage.” No offense. Well, it seems like that may not be so true. Carrie’s mother, Francine Coppola (yes, she does claim to be related to Francis & Co.), was involved in a relationship with a woman named Valerie Vetrano/ Vetrano told Star magazine:

In my country, in my household, I was raised to be honest and upfront. Yes, Francine and I dated. However, I don’t feel comfortable discussing the detail of our relationship - no offense.

Both of Carrie’s parents made gay allegations against the other during their heated and acrimonious divorce proceedings. When Francine’s marriage to Carrie’s father was finally dissolved, she was free to go after  new relationships and is said to have “actively pursued” Valerie, whom she met at “Pink,” a monthly lesbian party held at Palm Springs gay club Hunters. Was “I like Vaginas” too subtle a party name? 

The couple’s relationship eventually failed because, according to “friends,” Francine identified as a Christian did not want her family to know that she was bisexual or a lesbian. We’re sure tabloid captions like “Secret Sapphic Passion” also really helps normalize same-sex relationships for Carrie. We can’t be sure what combination of things helped form Carrie’s opinions on gay marriage, but we can’t help but suspect that if her parents had been more open about their relationships and didn’t treat homosexuality as shameful or some sort of disease, that perhaps her opinions might have been different.
