Glug Glug: Watermelon Agua Fresca
26 May 2009, 1:45 PM. By Alex Alvarez
A nice summertime treat, agua fresca is a Mexican drink that is light and refreshing. Adding watermelon introduces a kick of flavor. Adding tequila makes you an alcoholic. According to our friends.
Ingredients
4 cups diced ripe watermelon
3 cups water
2 to 3 teaspoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon sugar
Directions
1. Blend together watermelon with 1 1/2 cups of the water, the lime juice and the sugar at high speed until smooth.
2. Strain through a medium strainer into a large pitcher or bowl. Stir in the remaining water. Refrigerate for 1 hour or longer.
3. Fill a glass with ice, pour in the agua fresca, garnish with a mint sprig, and serve.
You can also add strawberries or other fruit juices to the mix, depending on taste. Another good way to do this without further watering down the flavor of your agua fresca is to freeze juice in ice cube trays and use this instead of regular ice. This drink can also be frozen and consumed as ice pops at a summer BBQ.

Oh hell yes. This is my favorite drink of all time.
I guess I’m an alcholic then.
Can you add tequila to this? (Of course you can, but does it taste good?)
How’s it taste with rum?
even better!
