National Council Of La Raza Responds To Tom Tancredo. If He Was Talking To Them. Who Knows?
29 May 2009, 5:31 PM. By Cindy Casares
National Council of La Raza, or as Tom Tancredo calls them because he is on such intimate terms with them, “La Raza,” President Janet Murguía was on Rick Sanchez’s show on CNN today to defend her organization after Tom Tancredo huffed some paint and spewed insanity about them all over the airwaves yesterday. To recap, Tancredo said “La Raza” is the “Latino KKK without the hoods or the nooses.” So, like, the Republican party. Hey-o!
No but for reals. What is Tom Tancredo’s support for such a bold statement? “The logo (sic) for La Raza (sic) is ‘All for the race, nothing for the rest,’” he screamed at Rick. Well, no. No, Tom. It’s not, actually. They don’t have a motto (we figure you meant, motto, not logo) of any kind. So, let’s review.
- You got their name wrong.
- You made up a motto, which you mistakenly called a “logo.” So, not only do you not know what NCLR’s motto is, you don’t know what a motto is, period.
- You falsely attributed that made up “logo” to a made up group called “La Raza” which everyone somehow figured out was meant to be the NCLR because that is a group Judge Sonia Sotomayor belongs to.
- You implied that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is racist by association to this group that, basically, doesn’t exist.
Why are we having this conversation with you? Oh, because, to add tequila to our chapped nalgas, CNN are a bunch of fucking instigators. They completely failed to either know or present the facts about NCLR yesterday (and we’re looking at you, Rick Sanchez.) They didn’t even ask Tancredo to CLARIFY who the fuck he was talking about when he kept saying, “La Raza” which lead to a huge spike in searches for the term yesterday afternoon on Google. CNN must have wondered who the hell Tancredo was talking about. We know we did. But they just let Tancredo’s misinformation hang there in the air for every rightwing nutball in American to get all riled up about and then run out to their sheds and get more gun powder for their homemade bombs.
When Rick Sanchez invited Tancredo back on the show today to meet Murguía and say these things to her face, he declined saying, “If you want to know why they’re racist, look it up.” Oh, sure, Tom. Do as you say and not as you do. Anyway. Here’s Janet Murguía, President of National Council of La Raza, if that is even who Tancredo was talking about.
