Murderers Of Immigrant Teen, Luis Ramirez Found Not Guilty Of Hate Crime

The two defendants standing trial for their involvement in the fatal beating of immigrant Luis Ramirez, 25, were found not guilty by a jury of their peers on Friday. Brandon Piekarsky, 17, and Derrick Donchak, 19, were acquitted of aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation. Prosecutors called the attack on immigrant Luis Ramirez a hate crime and called on the all-white jury on the coal town of Shenandoah, Pennsylvania to punish the two white teenagers for their role in the attack. But the jury found the teens not guilty of all serious charges which elicited cheers and relief from their families and friends and outrage from the victim’s.
The teens were both convicted of simple assault. A representative of Mr. Ramirez’s family, Gladys Limon, staff lawyer for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund said “There’s been a complete failure of justice. It’s just outrageous and very difficult to understand how any juror could have had any reasonable doubt.” The
The fight took place on July 12 when half-dozen football players at Shenandoah Valley High School, were walking home from a block party and spotted Mr. Ramirez and his 15-year-old girlfriend in a park. The teens shouted at the girl, “Isn’t it a bit late for you to be out?” That angered Luis Ramirez, who began yelling in Spanish and dialing his friends on his mobile phone. Words turned into punches and Ramirez died thirty hours later after the teens left him unconscious.
The jury foreman, Eric Macklin, said “I feel bad for Luis’s friends and family. I know they feel they haven’t gotten justice.” but mentioned that the evidence pointed to a verdict of not guilty.
The teens may feel relief for now, but the Hispanic civil group that Ms. Limon is part of is calling on the US Justice Department to prosecute them federally.

They beat a man to death and they get convicted of simple assault. They should never have been charged with just simple assault. They have a corrupt legal system in that town and the Justice Department should investigate it. But I won’t hold my breath.
I also think that the mother of Ramirez’s three children should sue those boys and their parents for wrongful death. Bankrupt them.

I am appalled the jury acquitted them. How sad that people cannot rely on the legal system. The jury ought to have trouble sleeping after the result they gave. I hope and pray that another suit is filed in Federal court and justice prevails. Meanwhile, these boys go unpunished, which makes them more like bullies.

This reminds me of the days when an African American can get murdered and the “system” would fail justice because of race. It is amazing that this still goes on. I think the way the African American’s have fought for justice. the Mexican Americans need to do the same.. I don’t care that he was an immigrant.. he was a human being.. and they hated him for being Mexican.. they killed a person and got away with it. The jury doesn’t care and will sleep at night because they come from the same bigot mentality.. If any one knows of a great organization that will fight for the rights of this poor man.. please post it! Only we can fight to change this from happening again!
If the details of this case were actually reported then the sentiment might be some what different. Luis Ramirez was 25 and was with his 15 year old girlfriend. Something is wrong with that picture…right? Or do we approve pedophilia among illegal aliens, which Luis Ramirez was also. It escalated after a coment from the football players into a fight and Luis Ramirez was killed. None of us were there but them. We don’t know how many beat him down or if he was the initial agressor. Race baiters would have you believe it was a racial killing, but that’s only because it was white people who beat the guy down. If it was the other way around we would have never heard anything about hate crimes or ethnic intimidation, thus goes the double standard applied to whites. I may feel bad for Luis Ramirez ,but he was an illegal immigrant pedophile, and because of this I could care less.
