Newt Gingrich Wrote A Twitter Post Claiming Sotomayor Is A Racist

Former Speaker of the House and current puppy-eating bogeyman Newt Gingrich wrote a Twitter post in which he claimed Sonia Sotomayor is a racist for having said that her background enabled her to understand and approach case differently than would a white male. At the risk of sounding like a Nouveau Ageist, this is why old, white men would do well to avoid technology. 

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs responded to Newt’s Tweet (Jesus eff, what is this world coming to) by basically saying, “We think most people who don’t require the use of a helmet to read a gossip blog’s posts will see that Sonia Sotomayor was chosen because she’s competent. Jesus Fuck. Why are we talking about this? I’m going to fucking hang myself by my tie in my office. I cannot believe I’m answering a question about Newt fucking Gingrich’s Twitter account. I am going to literally staple myself to death, right now.” Or something like that:

I think it is probably important for anyone involved in this debate to be exceedingly careful with the way in which they’ve decided to describe different aspects of this impending confirmation. I think… when people of American and the people of the Senate get a chance to look at more than just the blog of a former lawmaker that they will come to the same conclusion as the president did… I think that when people get a chance to look at her record, I feel certain that partisan politics will take a back seat to common sense and open-minded decisions based on a full examination of the record and I think that that’s what every Supreme Court and judicial nominee deserves.

We also wonder why some people are habitually allowed to leave the children’s table and come talk with the grown-ups as if they’re all on the same level. We’re not saying Newt Gingrich isn’t a smart man, it’s just that he’s not bringing anything to the discussion, so why give him credence by formally addressing his non-statements? The internet will be the death of Democracy. We are so serious. Everyone with commenting ability inevitably turns into Ann Coulter or Bill Maher or sometimes even Ralph Nader talking alone to a parrot. Jesus.
