hija-niurka-mayo-2009Niurka Marcos’ 13-year-old daughter, Romina, is on a diet. And it’s all thanks to her mom! Who also made sure to tell an internationally distributed magazine that she hopes her daughter lets her know the moment she loses her virginity! Head. Keyboausfd.

The teen told interviewers that, prompted by her famous mom, she’s lost 20 pounds already and wants to lose about 2 more. Romina says she’s stopped eating certain foods, like chocolate, which used to be her favorite but she now turns down when it’s offered.

Niurka says she spoke with her nutritionist and placed Romina on a diet of vegetables, fruits and lean meats with absolutely no sugary products or pasta. She says she’s very proud of her daughter… for being able to fit into smaller clothes.

Romi, mija. Sit down here next to your Hot Auntie Guanabee and listen close. This is how it starts. You lose some weight. People tell you how great you look and you start to think, “Wow. Did I look so bad before?” So you lose a little more. More awesome feedback! You fit into cute tiny clothes that you pose in while in your backyard (?), you notice guys checking you out, girls looking at you with envy. So you go head and lose more. And then more. And it doesn’t really stop. Or? You lose weight. Feel great. Feel ok going back to eating habits that maybe weren’t all about moderation. And then you gain it back. So you become obsessed with losing it again. And on and on it  goes. So why not eat what you like. Be active. Learn to stop eating when you feel you’ve had enough. And it’ll be ok.

Learning to eat healthy (and to develop a state for) healthy foods is great and we’re really glad Niurka consulted with a nutritionist instead of going with a trendy diet plan. But depriving a 13-year-old of entire food groups is an excellent way to help her develop disordered eating and a negative relationship with food.

Romina does seem to have a good head on her shoulders, though. She says that, while she wants to be a singer when she grows up, she realizes that she’s very young and she might still change her mind. She also said that while her mother has talked to her about using protection during sex, sexytimes and boyfriends are the furthest things from her mind right now and she’d rather have fun with friends. As long as it’s not at a pizza party.

  1. At age 13, I was contemplating if I was, in fact, too old for Muppet movies. Food, dieting, and sex were not even on my radar yet.

And, for the record, no one is too old for Muppet movies.
