Ruben Noe Coronado, Pregnant Man, Begins His Media Rounds In America
15 May 2009, 10:49 AM. By Cindy Casares
We were just wondering what the heck happened to 25 year-old, pregnant transgender man Ruben Noe Coronado of Spain who we last told you is carrying twins. Well, lo and behold, he’s shown up on the Spanish-language TV circuit. It can’t be long before he’s on Oprah. After a trying April on the Spanish morning talk show circuit where the queen of Spanish mornings Ana Rosa told him, “Sure you’re a man, but you don’t have a pito,” Ruben appeared on Univision’s Primer Impacto to discuss his status at 13 weeks. One sad development, it seems Coronado is no longer in a relationship. “I’m a pregnant, transgender man and I’m single,” he tells Primer Impacto. Chin up, Ruben. You’re about to have a lot of company.
At 14 weeks, Ruben appeared on Canal Cinco’s La Tribu in Spain and we can finally see the bump!
We just have to say that Ruben’s surgeons did a helluva job. Unlike Thomas Beatie, we’d never know this dude used to be a woman.

Yeah I can see why he decided to be a man. there is no way in hell you would think that he was once a woman. i know this is mean but, fugly.
“We just have to say that Ruben’s surgeons did a helluva job. Unlike Thomas Beatie, we’d never know this dude used to be a woman.”
Love your blog, but ugggg really? First off, what kind of surgery makes him look “more like a dude” than Thomas Beatie? Do you mean he has more facial hair and a receding hairline? That’s because he is taking testosterone. That has nothing to do with surgeons. Some FTM, female to male, transgender people, choose to and can afford to have top surgery, which is a contouring chest surgery.
This type of gender policing, played off as a snide offhand comment, saying someone is “more of a dude” or “more of a man” or “more of a woman” is exactly why so many people are so prejudiced against transgender people. Saying someone is “less of a man,” or that he’s only a man if certain visual changes happen, is not cool or funny.
I look forward to your continued coverage of Ruben Noe Coronado, and I hope that it will be a more respectful look at his story. The organization GLAAD has a guide for journalists that explains fair ways to report on transgender people: http://www.glaad.org/referenceguide
The National Center for Transgender Equality is also a great resource:

i didn’t mean it as a snide remark. i meant what i said. I would never know that Coronado is transgender wheras it’s obvious with Beatie. If that is offensive, my ignorance. But it wasn’t meant to be snide. Thanks for the link I will check it out.
