Selena Gomez is modeling Spring florals for the June/July issue of Teen Vogue. The Disney star showed off an edgier, grunge-inspired style for her shoot, which took place in Puerto Rico.
The actress told the magazine that she's a "cold-eyed realist" and won't ever be caught dating an actor:
I used to say that I wanted someone cute and nice, an actor too, so he’d get it. But now I think it would be good for me to date someone who’s not in the business. I want someone honest, someone who’s very sweet to my family and friends, and polite to the other people around me. Being cool, having a ‘cool’ energy, is just not attractive to me… I want what I deny. I want someone who is crazy about me, who treats me like a princess. I want the picture-perfect fairy-tale stuff.Oh Selena. Fairy-tale romances do exist, but you'll find that you can very much be dating the hot prince and the silly goblin and the evil witch all at once. Selena doesn't seem to let fame be going to her head. As this behind-the-scenes video of her shoot shows, she's most excited about the fact that she got to wear different colored socks in each photo: Teen Vogue, for their part, thinks it's kind of magical that a Texican would even have a show in the first place:
The irony, of course, is that so much of Selena's life is kind of magical. It's not just the wand she wields for her work on Wizards; it's that the odds of a young Mexican-American girl from Grand Prairie, Texas, ending up with her own hit television show are so vanishingly small. Thanks to Selena (and big executives and stylists and casting directors and editors and bloggers and managers and publicists), it's not longer just a fairy-tale that a Latina can be the leading lady in her own Disney series. As long as she's really cute and skinny. Anyway. We're happy for Selena and think her cover is mighty pretty. Watch out, Jennifer. We can see this girl taking away your throne as the "Latina most often cast in silly romantic comedies with a Wilson Jonas brother."
