Eight Clubs That Are As Bad As The KKK By Tom Tancredo’s Standards

Yesterday Tom Tancredo told CNN’s Rick Sanchez that Sonia Sotomayor’s club “La Raza,” (by which we can only guess he meant National Council of La Raza, since he couldn’t bother to get the name right), is the “Latino KKK.” And by the way, Rick, way to speak up with the facts when Tancredo quoted a completely false “logo” by which he probably meant “motto” or “slogan.” Tom was never one for facts. Nor is Rick Sanchez or CNN it seems.

NCLR, one of the oldest and foremost civil rights advocacy groups in America, was surprised to hear Tancredo’s assessment of their organization. Especially since it sounded as if he’d never even heard of them before. He called them by the wrong name, attributed erroneous rhetoric to them, etc, blah, blah, puke. We were surprised, too, but then we thought about it and came up with some other clubs Tancredo might be surprised to discover are prejudiced and discriminatory by his own definition.

The Catholic Church

Every week in church, Catholics recite this sentence, “We believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.” Sounds pretty exclusionary to us. Ready to tell all Catholics they can’t serve on the Supreme Court, Tom? Ha. Don’t answer that.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC)

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, which Tom Tancredo belongs to, lists this as their motto: “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty.” Which means, your liberty is fine as long as its not about anything important. You will agree with us on the “essential” things. Fascists.

Republican Jewish Coalition

How about the group that Newt Gingrich–another guy calling Sotomayor racist this week–spoke in front of, The Republican Jewish Coalition? Their mission statement says, “We seek to foster and enhance ties between the American Jewish community and Republican decision makers.” Hmmm… that sounds remarkably like the National Coalition For La Raza’s mission statement for Latinos. So if NCLR is racist then the RJC must be racist, too. Or is racism only reserved for groups that don’t work to empower the neo-cons?

Daughters of the American Revolution

The DAR is the most racist women’s group in America by Tom Tancredo’s standards. They only care about preserving the heritage of the people who helped found America between “19 April 1775 (Battle of Lexington) and 26 November 1783 (withdrawal of British Troops from New York)” (Yes, they actually write the date in that racist, European way.) You know how many Latinos served in the Army in the mid 1700’s? It’s racist! And, they don’t even let men in. They’re like the KKK with bonnets.

The Minuteman Project

This project, which was founded in 2005 by Jim Gilchrist, describes itself as “a citizens’ Neighborhood Watch on our border.” So it discriminates against non-citizens. RACIST. Or does racism only matter if it’s against Americans? Also, what about citizens not on the border? Don’t they deserve a Neighborhood Watch, too? Neighborhoodist.

Youth For Western Civilization

The YWC brought Tom Tancredo to University of North Carolina to talk about immigration last month where he got a brick through his window. (It wasn’t us, we swear.) Prominently featured on the banner of their homepage is the following Tom Tancredo quote, “This is our culture — fight for it. This is our flag — pick it up. This is our country — take it back.” Hmmm…who is the “our” Tancredo refers to? Obviously not the Latinos since everything Latinos do to differentiate themselves (like breathe) brings his ire. Therefore, he must be talking about his own white, American culture. Racist.

California Republican Assembly

This group, which Tancredo has been associated with as witnessed by the above picture, is credited with helping Ronald Reagan rise to power and says, on their website, that they have a “Judeo-Christian Foundation: We believe in the guiding force of moral law as expressed by the Judeo- Christian ethic and contained in the Holy Scriptures of these historic faiths.” Wow, so 65% of the world is left out. BIGOTS.

The Lions Club, Kiwanas, Knights Of Columbus and all those service clubs with funny hats

flintstones22
These so-called, “service clubs” were founded so that “successful business men” could pool their talents and use them for service for the less fortunate. That sounds pretty fucking exclusive to us. What about unsuccessful businessmen? What about business women? What about the bums? Why don’t you just burn a cross in our yard? You racists.
