Eva Mendes Really Stretches Her Resume For Her Latest Role As “Abused Woman In Bra” In Bad Lieutenant

Eva Mendes co-stars with the likes of Nicolas Cage, what is left of Val Kilmer and Xzibit in an upcoming Werner Herzog film called Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, based (although the director denies it) on a Harvey Keitel movie made back in the 90s. In a huge departure from all her previous roles, Eva plays an abused girlfriend who has sex with a cop and is often wearing little more than a bra. That’s right - after the raging success that was Ghost Rider, Eva and Nic are back for more.
Here’s the trailer. A warning: You probably won’t need to watch the movie after watching this because, as most trailers tend to do nowadays, it pretty much tells you the entire god damned story -
Sigh. We’d find it easier to ease up on Eva if she just stopped. Playing. The druggie / cop / druggie cop’s girlfriend in like every freaking movie that calls for such a role. And, as it turns out, we’re not the only ones feeling iffy about this film. The director of the orignal Bad Lieutenant, Abel Ferrara, is pissed that Herzog is “remaking” (Herzog has insisted that it is not a remake and that did not know who Ferrara was) his 1992 film.
So there’s that.
Would you see this film? At this point, any movie starring Nicolas Cage and/or Eva Mendes is pretty much a movie we wouldn’t even bother watching on a transatlantic flight.

I love the feud between the directors.
It’s like if I were making Larry Kotter–a story about a lonely boy who realizes he’s a warlock… not just any warlock, but the one who survived as a two year-old magician, savant.
And when confronted with stealing the idea, I can just say that I have no idea who this Rowling person is… and that it came to me in a drunken stupor.
STFU Herzog.
Hollywood is really running out of ideas aren’t they?
