Eva Mendes’ Newest Calvin Klein Ad Campaign Prompts Query: What The Hell Is Eva Trying To Do To Us?

Eva Mendes, come. Sit here; we’ve saved you a place. It’s nice and quiet here, isn’t it? Yeah. So, listen. Your acting career. How’s that going? Uh huh…

Look, Eva. We’ve been flipping through your new Calvin Klein ads and, you know, they’re nice. Lovely. Despite the fact that seeing people looking like they’re drenched in bodily fluids whilst wearing moist denim does not particularly make us want to buy pants nor undergarments, they’re fabulous.

But we wouldn’t help but notice, Eva, that this is the 143rd ad campaign you’ve shot for Calvin Klein. And we know that nothing comes between you and your Calvins (baby powder could help with that), but aren’t you an actress? Who wants to be taken seriously for her work? We mean, we’re just going by what you’ve said. In a rather asshole fashion, we might add. Remember this?:

I would like to think I will have a more serious career than J.Lo. We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop. She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible.

And you’re open to talking about being a Latina and your fiery Cubanosity (Again: try baby powder. So soothing.) in so many of your interviews, which we love!, but, like. Can you stop it? Because it’s kind of enforcing the idea that Latin women only experience and are to be experienced from the neck down and you… how to put this? Eva, you don’t have the talent or the body of work (no pun intended, mija) to make your sexy image multi-dimensional. Which is fine for a model. But you want to be an actress. A “serious” actress. And, what’s more, you seem to want to be a role model for other Latinas.
