This Day In Latino History
12 June 2009, 11:01 AM. By Cindy Casares

On this day in 1981, Adriana Francesca Lima was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. There she remained a chaste, Catholic-school going virgin well longer than someone with her looks should. But she was hell-bent on making it to the top of the modeling game and, so, at the tender age of 13, she enrolled in the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest. She came in second. Which, is kind of sick, if you think about it. At the ripe, old age of 16 she moved to New York City, eventually landing a role in BMW’s short film, The Hire. (Hubba, hubba. Clive Owen.) And the rest is history. Oh and she finally had sex. She and her NBA-playing, Serbian husband, Marko Jaric, are expecting their first kid in the winter.
