Lu Parker In Seven Revealing YouTube Videos

Now that the news is out about Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s second newscaster girlfriend, Lu Parker, it behooves us to ask who the hell she is. And what–besides her microphone– does she have that makes the Mayor go ring-a-ding?

Turns out, Lu Parker is more than just a pretty face on the local television news in Los Angeles. She was also a pretty face on the Miss USA pageant circuit. In fact, after winning Miss South Carolina in 1994, she went on to win Miss USA just three short months later, propelling her to the Miss Universe competition, where, despite speaking Tagalog to an impressed crowd, she failed to capture the crown. But her career in the media has left us with a wealth of old footage from which to glean some insight about this fascinating, fascinating woman.

Lu Parker loves animals. And will tell you so in her bikini.

One thing we learned from Lu’s archives is that she loves animals. If she isn’t tweeting about walking her dog with “a friend,” she’s advocating for animal rescue in Los Angeles. And even back in her pageant days, when she was just a simple English teacher from South Carolina, she was recommending horseback riding to her students for its esteem-building properties. Did you know, she actually studied on a horse? Of course not. That would be silly. (P.S. This pageant took place on South Padre Island, Texas. Woot, woot.)

Lu Parker doesn’t understand Spanish accents so good. 

This could be an issue when Lu goes home to meet Antonio Villaraigosa’s abuelita. During the evening gown competition of the 1994 Miss USA pageant, when Lu was asked a question by a Spanish-accented judge, she either couldn’t decipher his speech (which was pretty clear to us) or she had no idea what the FCC does. (Ironic considering it would come to rule over her career later.) Then she came dangerously close to becoming an internet meme with her answer. If only the internet existed then and we weren’t forced to make fun of people through cave paintings.

Lu Parker totally got rid of her embarrassing South Carolina accent.

Anyway, you can rest assured from this video, that if you get your news from Lu, you’re getting it from a journalist who knows how to work a wind machine.

On her website, Lu lists acting among her many talents. It’s true. She’s played a television news reporter on Monk, Commander In Chief and Bones. Pretending to be a hard hitting journalist. Hmmm… wonder where she learned to do that.
