Maria Belen Chapur Speaks Out About Her Emails To Mark Sanford

Maria Belen Chapur contacted C5N and Radio 10 reporter Eduardo Feinmen in Argentina to comment on emails she sent to South Carolina governor Mark Sanford and to clarify who exactly aired these out for all the public to read. 

In her correspondence to Feinmann, Chapur said:

• This will be her one and only statement regarding rumors surrounding her emails to Sanford and that her intent in making a statement in the first place is to clear up lies and speculation that have been hurting those close to her, including her two sons.
• She will not speak about her private life (i.e. the particulars of her relationship to Sanford), which was already been made “too public.”
• Her hotmail account was hacked around November 24th of last year by someone who had gotten access to another, older account under a name “provided by an Argentine company.”
• She was able to close both accounts and recover her stolen information sometime around December 8th of the same year, after going through much paperwork - which she’s kept - with Microsoft and the “Argentine company.”
• Despite recent reports to the contrary, Chapur’s hotmail account was not hacked by a friend. Reports had apparently fingered a person whom she had met in Brazil at the Rolex Regatta as the culprit. Chapur insists he is an honorable person incapable of doing such a thing and that he, as she, is merely a victim in this situation. She says the alleged hacker(s) sent him the stolen emails in addition to bringing them to the attention of The State newspaper.
• Chapur says she has a good idea who hacked into her accounts and stole her emails, but that, lacking sufficient evidence, she must keep that person’s identity under wraps. 

Not once did she mention Sanford’s name, nor did she address any rumors surrounding the affair itself. It’ll be interesting to see whether this is, in fact, the one and only time Maria Belen Chapur will discuss something even tangentially related to the affair. Also: She uses hotmail! Haha. Adorbs.
