UPDATE 4:34 PM PT: CNN HAS JUST CONFIRMED WITH LT. FRED CORRAL, LOS ANGELES CORONER, THAT MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD. An autopsy will be held tomorrow.

Michael Jackson was pronounced dead today at approximately 3:15 PM Pacific Time at UCLA Medical Center after arriving in a deep coma as a result of cardiac arrest. We can’t even believe we just wrote those words. The King of Pop was 50 years old. His death marks the end of one of the biggest careers in the history of show business and American pop culture.

Jackson collapsed around noon at his home today. His family ran to his side, but he did not respond. A firefighter told E! news that a call came in because a person was not breathing. CNN medical correspondents say that if cardiac arrest is untreated within the first fifteen minutes, the victim often dies.

  2. i am tearing up. i really am. i grew up to his music and his talent cannot be denied. for all his personal problems in his later life, he was undeniably once a great artist. i hope he can finally rest in peace.
