perez-hilton-sexyfaceCalling Will.i.am gay and subsequently getting punched in the face by his manager is the best thing to have happened to Perez Hilton in a long time. Not so much in terms of his image… or his career… or his personal life… but, like, in his own mind, this has all definitely made him a hero and a martyr. A gentleman and a scholar. A man and a mouse.

And, now, others are attempting to piggyback, so to speak, on Perez Hilton’s notoriety. According to a press release we received, a night club empresario named JE Englebert is organizing a Self-Promoting Shitfest Free Speech Rally at a New York club in order to offer Perez support and adequate lift and separation:

Freedom of speech should never be compromised. Wether [sic] you love Perez or hate Perez he is a entertainment icon that has the right to free speech. I am inviting Mr. Hilton to be my guest of honor in NYC and have a VIP party for him and his thousand [sic] of followers at my nightclub Suzie Wong on a night to show love not hate.

We’re not sure calling someone a faggot is quite what free speech is all about, but it’s certainly a good a reason as any to organize what we’re sure will be a fun night full of guys in striped shirts slamming back some Perez Hiltinis.

Perez has also been trying to milk this for all it’s worth by constantly referring to it over Twitter. Constantly. Here’s a small sampling:

Again: Calling Will.i.am a faggot had nothing to do with exercising freedom of speech. It’s not an issue of political correctness. It’s isn’t really an issue of morality. The issue here is that a man in the public eye showed his true colors and his gross hypocrisy through his hateful speech and juvenile actions and then decided to play the victim the moment people called him out on it.

Because Perez is too self-involved and immature to see the impact of his actions - or because he is enjoying the publicity he’s receiving, positive or not - he’s going to keep going at it and bringing up the fight over and over until the public and media find something else to latch onto and mull over for a while.

We don’t think for one second that this’ll be “the end” of Perez Hilton. His brand is too powerful and popular right now to have investos and advertisers pull out because of this incident. Plus… is his behavior now really shocking to anyone who has ever read his blog or heard him speak? His idiocy is totally fool-proof.
