Are Scientologists Courting Cameron Diaz?

Katie Holmes and a very damp Tom Cruise turned up to support Cameron Diaz as she earned (quote unquote) her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We know that she’s co-starring with Tom Cruise in Wichita, a movie where he plays a secret agent who stalks her to be the next carrier of his robot-lizard spawn spies on her. Still, it seemed a little strange that TomKat, of all people (quote unquote), would show up to paw at Cameron on her big day. What’s going on here?

The movie the two are working on has already stirred up some controversy. Former FOX News columnist alleges that he was fired due to his repeated and open denunciations of Scientology. He also claims that one of Cruise’s conditions to take on this movie was for Friedman to be given the ol’ heave-ho. Which he was.

For her part, Cameron’s never been one to discuss religion. Her official denomination, it seems, is surfing. 

So, why would Diaz stick with a movie that’s already inspired so much bad sentiment in Hollywood and which has already been entrenched in the personal beliefs/politics of one of its controversial stars? It’s not as if Cameron needs the money nor the exposure. And it certainly hasn’t helped any star’s public image to be seen with the Cruises. 

Careful, Cameron.
