Selena Boutique Finally, Officially Closes

Well. It’s done, peeps.

After months of hoping the rumors weren’t true, it’s now official: Selena’s Corpus Christi boutique has closed its doors for good. Selena’s father, Abe Quintanilla, said he had kept the boutique open as long as he could out of respect for his daughter, as it was her special project. But now, fourteen years (!!!) after the Tejana singer’s death, the shop has fallen victim to the sluggish economy. 

The  building that housed Selena’s store will be sold, although Papa Quintanilla says some of the merchandise formerly sold at “Selena Etc, Inc.” will now be available in the gift shop of Selena’s Museum. 

Personally, we think they’re giving up on this too hastily. If anyone had thought to ask us, we’d have happily come up with new merchandise and branding opportunities to help revamp the shop’s image and drum up publicity:
