Spanish Bar Gives Free Beers To People Who Insult Their Staff

A bar in Cullera, Spain has a deal for frustrated alcoholics facing dire economic times: If you call any of  Casa Pocho’s bartenders the bastard child of a three-legged goat or inform them that you have just taken a shit on their mothers, you will receive a complimentary drink. Which is a nice surprise if your intention was just to be the charming intoxicated asshole you usually are. 

The promotion was thought up by the bar’s owner Bernard Mariusz, who is Polish. We love the image of a Polish business person in Spain sitting down and thinking “Hm. How can I capitalize on the ubiquitous seething anger of my patrons?:”

Polish-born bar owner Bernard Mariusz said he thought people needed somewhere to release their frustrations at a time of economic crisis, employing the Spanish language’s rich store of earthy obscenities.

“That way they won’t let it out on their family,” he said.

Wink, nudge, propensity for domestic violence.

We love this idea. There have been so many times we’ve wanted to yell at a female bartender who is ignoring our drink order while chatting up some skinny jean clad filmmaker (bum), “THAT GIANT MOLE ON YOUR LEFT TIT SORT OF LOOKS LIKE MICKEY MOUSE CAN I HAVE MY BLUE MOON PLZ.” Imagine doing so and getting a free beverage out of the whole deal!
