This Day In Latino History
17 June 2009, 9:25 AM. By Cindy Casares

Today in Latino history, we WISH this guy was Latino, but alas, he was Dracula! (Romanian.) So, we have to settle for the birth of another soul-sucker, Paulina Rubio.

On this day in 1971, (woot, woot), all that is fresa and vile was born in Mexico City, Mexico to some parents who were rich fresas. We don’t even have to look that up. (Her mom was actress Susana Dosamantes.) This little girl would grow up in the lap of strawberry luxury. When she was 9 years old, she got into the “band” Timbiriche which spent the better part of the 80’s brainwashing Mexican children and generally being inferior to Menudo. In the 90’s they all got too old and, so, they went away for a while. It was then that little Paulina Rubio re-formed herself into the oversexed item you see before you. It sold a lot of records. Even in America. She became known as La Chica Dorada–the Golden Girl. Like Maude. In America, she became known as Border Girl. You know, because Mexico City. Same thing. She continues to plague the eastern seaboard via Miami.

In Switzerland, I was detained at an airport because they thought I was a Romanian terrorist.
That is a cool piece of info you should tell on first dates.
Tragically, doesn’t every other useless Mexican celebrity contaminate the Eastern seaboard via Miami? It’s one of the reasons I refuse to ever go there.
Although, Dorothy, Sofia, Blanche and Rose keep pulling me there … maybe when I’m 90.
