On LA’s Biggest Media Day EVER, Whither Antonio Villaraigosa?

The city of Los Angeles would love it if you gave some money to help pay for Michael Jackson’s Magical Mystery Funeral, but don’t ehspect the mayor to ask you himself. He’s somewhere on the continent of Africa. Presumably doing something more exotic. Perhaps little Ms. Lu Parker?

The LA Times reported last week that the mayor would be attending a summit from July 2nd through the 10th in Cape Town and Johannesburg, (that’s in South Africa), for “the greatest thinkers and achievers from around the world,” sponsored by the Academy of Achievement. (This all sounds very Tim Robins.) But LA Observed recalls that back when the story broke about his new romance with KTLA reporter Lu Parker, the following scene was observed by the local NBC affiliate in a Los Angeles bookstore:

She was also seen looking at a book about Kenya and overheard saying to Villaraigosa, “We should buy it for our trip.”

So either Villaraigosa is also going to Kenya, or girlfriend don’t know geography. We vote for both. Meanwhile, with the mayor out of town, his office is all up in the internet misspelling “tax deductable” and getting dates wrong and shit.
