Why Cameron Diaz Is An Inspiration To Us All

film_whathappensinvegasCameron Diaz is getting some, apparently, from both Jude Law and Leonardo DiCaprio. You realize, of course, that this is what we would dream of every night as a 12-year-old girl: To be the meat in a medianoche with Jack and Gattaca Dude. Leonardo could be the bread, because he’s loaded with dough and, let’s face it, often looks a little yeasty. And Jude can be the cheese and pickles because he, too, appears to possibly be suffering from a case of fumunda cheese. Of course, in our fantasy, we’ve all just taken a dip in a very chlorinated pool.

Moving on. That was all just a rather convoluted way of saying: Congrats, Cameron. And good job. This woman knows how to date and does so like an absolute champ. She’s not in the mindset of going after that oft-coveted little blue box and, because she’s able to shrug off social expectations of getting married and popping out the requisite two and a half womb trolls, she seems to have had a lot of fun getting her mack (and cheese) on.

Plus, it isn’t as if she’s denied herself the pleasures of being in a committed, long-term relationship. She was with Justin Timberlake over a period of like 750 years (for some reason), and the two seemed very happy together.

Cameron once spoke to Ellen DeGeneres (who, as you might know, has her own very definite opinions about marriage) about why she and Justin weren’t heading towards marriage:

Ellen: Speaking of Justin…when he was on the show I asked him if you were going to get married.

Cameron: I saw that.

Ellen: And, are you?

Cameron: I’m a commitment phobe…don’t want to do it.

Ellen: I know but it’s been almost four years now.

Cameron: I know. Well, we’re kind of, like, married..isn’t it?

Ellen: Yeah, kind of…without the tax benefits.

Cameron: Oh, yeah..Oh wow.

Ellen: There’s reason to do it!

Of course, Cameron could very well have just gone out with her former co-stars (she starred with Law in The Holiday and with DiCaprio in Gangs of New York) as friends and might very well be sitting at home eating ice cream and feeling sorry for herself but, either way, we appreciate the image she puts out. She seems centered, confident, happy and in love with her own life. So, yeah. Kudos to Cameron.

…Even if we suspect her Cuban abuelita in Tampa might not have agreed.
