I'm SPM. You know my name. I'm the one that came up out the dope game. I've paid my dues and kept my cool. I'm the one that told your kid to stay in school. I'm from the streets, thank god for rap, I creep through my hood in a smoke gray 'llac. Oh, and in 2002 I was convicted of sexually assaulting a nine year old girl. And people are currently spreading rumors again that I died in jail.
Carlos Coy, not dead according to his Wikipedia page, is one of the most troubling individuals in recent Latino stardom. He is, on the one hand, South Park Mexican, the baddest Latino rapper to ever live. On the other, he is a convicted child molester and serving 45 years in prison. We hate ourselves for loving him so, but conveniently, the recent stream of effusive adoration for another famous child molester with better lawyers has put our complicated feelings in perspective. Even more conveniently, people are burning up the internet with rumors of his death so we get a chance to work through our issues.
First, take a look at the SPM we fell in love with. He's kicking poignant aspirational rhymes, making the world seem like an oyster, and running shit like a complete gangsta.
It's the beat, it's the flow, it's the way he's totally generous and malicious at the same time. Like he said though, contradiction on his chest. Remember, this man is a vile, little girl-molesting fuck face. Coy, unlike other famously accused pedophiles, was convicted. He has been creatively referred to as South Park Monster and fathered a child with a 14 year old when he was 20. Eight girls testified at his trial that he had sex with them while they were underage. There is no way to argue that SPM is anything other than a terribly perverted man prone to illegally inappropriate sexual activities. However, longtime collaborator and friend, Baby Bash, has made the attempt. His argument is hard to understand, but it boils down to the fact that 'Los didn't deserve to go to jail for 45 years without hard evidence, and in any event, he's been wrongly accused by the mother of the 9 year old girl because the mom has wanted money from SPM for years.
Um..yeah. Maybe probably not. Fuck. SPM isn't dead, so we can't pretend he was the saintly king of anything. We have to acknowledge the reality that this exceedingly talented person is a total piece of shit. For his own part, Carlos claims from prison, (in response to rumors that surfaced last year), that he's not dead and that he's "better than ever" and working hard on music and even books.
Yeah, ok. Fuck you, SPM. We wish we'd never fallen victim to your dope rhymes. But...we got room for one more.
Metal bracelets facin', or worse incarceration. Aim for the dome gotta keep my concentration. Since elementary, it was destined for me, to see the penitentiary. Late Friday or was it early Saturday? I hit him with the shotty that I bought from academy. ... Last summer, I escaped from an asylum. You know the three digits, bitch, you better dial 'em.
