michelleobama480If you ever wondered what First Grandma Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama's mother, and Yanixan have in common, well. Wonder no more: They both, unlike Bradley Nowell, practice Santeria.   Robinson turned to the Yoruba-Caribbean religion after her husband, Fraser, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis:
This is how it happened. Marian Robinson became increasingly frustrated as her husband, Fraser Robinson, was hobbled by multiple sclerosis in the late 1980s. The family pastor prayed with her and counseled her, but “she turned to Santeria in a desperate hope,” Michelle’s friend said. “Michelle put her foot down when she heard that her mother took her dad to ceremonies where they did spells and trances, and sacrificed animals, chickens and goats I think. But Marian was desperate and kept going anyway, even when her husband was to sick to go with her. I don’t think the president knew anything about this earlier because it was before they met. Michelle and Craig (her brother) wanted to close the book on this and never talked about it again after their father died in 1991.”
Barack Obama is reportedly worried over how this news will impact his image. 'Cuz now not only is he a secret Muslim who was really born in Iraqistan, but his family is into strange Latino shit, too. Heavens (IF THEY EVEN BELIEVE IN IT!) have mercy.  If anything, this news kind of endears Marian to us. It makes her seem like a woman who really loved her husband, was scared at how his disease was causing him to deteriorate and tried to do whatever she felt was necessary to help him. She's human, people! Or at least her clever flesh disguise is human. In any case: Meh. Santeria is only dangerous if you believe in it.  Plus, it's not nice to judge people. Ask yourselves: W.W.O.D? Are you getting this from http://atkinsonsadvice.blogtownhall.com/2009/08/15/witchcraft_in_the_white_house.thtml ? Cause they are not the most reliable and they cite no source at all.

Wow. Are you so desperate for page views that you'd publish this without citing a credible source? At least on Wonkette, the piece is dripping with sarcasm. sad.

This goes out to Michelle Obama, her mom and President Barack Obama - Dear Obama Family, Mrs. Robinson turned to the orishas for help in the past for help with her husband's illness and I am sure that orishas help this man through whatever was going on with his health as well as helping him to go into Olofi (God's) Kingsdom when his time came. Olofi & all the Orishas in the Yoruba Pantheon have always helped whomever has asked for their help and will always be there for whomever present or future need their assistance. Be it health, economical, or anything else that is within their power. I was ordained as a Yoruba priest in 1979 and I have been able to help many folks. To this day, alot of people seek my religious knowledge to help them in their lives. It gives me pleasure to hear when someone I have helped reaches their goals. It is my calling as a Yoruba priest to help anyone who comes to my door looking for guidance, and /or religious development. It would be an honor and my pleasure to help The Obama Family if they ever needed my religious assistance. I can be a vessel for the orishas to employ me in order for me to help humanity. I will continue to offer my religious services to the world until the time comes for me to face my maker. So, if ever there comes a time that the Obama family needs my assistance or Mrs. Robinson for that matter in my capacity as a Yoruba priest, I AM THERE FOR THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY. Sincerely, Baba SomiLeke
