Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Diagnosed With Swine Flu
11 August 2009, 10:30 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Costa Rican President and Nobel Prize winner Oscar Arias has been diagnosed with H1N1 flu (known as “swine flu” to pigs like us). Arias felt sick over the weekend and specifically asked to be tested for the virus.
The President’s health issues were announced by Chief of Staff Rodrigo Arias, who also happens to be the President’s brother.
Arias’ illness comes at a time when North American leaders are meeting in Guadalajara to focus on, among other issues, the spread and treatment of swine flu. Arias is the first state of head to have contracted the virus.
