Swine Flu Is Going To Kick Your Asses, Latinos

A study based out of Chicago has found that swine flu is four times more likely to affect black and/or Latino people to the point that they have to be hospitalized. Experts believe a possible reason for this may be that blacks and/or Latinos are more likely to suffer from asthma and diabetes, and these illnesses can wreak havoc on one’s defenses and make one more vulnerable to the flu. 

So let’s go over some of the ways we’re totally screwed, shall we?

• We’re going to explode with cancer as our population increases in the U.S.
• Our teeth are all falling out in our mouths, just like our most frequent recurring nightmare.
• We don’t have jobs.
• We’re hard-wired to be fat. We just can’t help it!
• No one is taking our problems seriously. 

Which all means: We need to be vocal and stand up for ourselves when it comes to health care. We need to do research, understand the options that are available to us and - and this is important - we cannot be afraid to ask our doctors questions, to follow up, to ask them to be clear. And, of course, we need to make better choices when it comes to food and nutrition. 

Come on, guys. Don’t let the white kids hog all the balloons from the doctors’ office.
